Overview

Vision inspection system for hex, flange, square and weld nuts

The Glass Disc Machine for Nuts Inspection is a machine vision system built to inspect flange nuts, hex nuts, weld nuts, dome nuts, nyloc nuts and square nuts. It checks for surface defects such as head crack, head damage, scratches, ID thread damage, cut marks, dents, thread burr and half thread, together with dimensional irregularities.

With manual and auto loading systems the machine inspects at up to 300 parts per minute, giving detailed dimensional and surface-defect inspection across every nut type in the family.

Multiple cameras positioned around the disc each perform a different inspection: angle, height, half thread, inner diameter, outer diameter, across flat, across corner and thread presence/absence. OCR-OCV reads characters, and absence/presence verification confirms every feature is there.

High-resolution cameras capture the nut from several angles as it passes through the inspection area; when a defect is identified the machine automatically rejects the NOT-OK part, so only OK parts proceed.

What the operator sees

Inspection results on screen

Screens from the machine's own software for this part family: the camera view, the measured dimensions overlaid, and the result table with master value, tolerance, measured value and the OK / NOT-OK count.

Why choose it

Why manufacturers choose this configuration

Chosen for nuts because a dedicated taper camera checks the internal thread while the other stations cover dimensions and 360° surfaces.

Common questions

Questions buyers ask

Which nuts can it inspect?

Hex nuts, flange nuts, square nuts, weld nuts, dome nuts and nyloc nuts — for dimensional, thread and surface-defect inspection.

What dimensions does it check?

Angle, height, half thread, inner diameter, outer diameter, across flat, across corner and thread presence or absence.

What defects does it detect?

Damage, head crack, head damage, ID thread damage, cut mark, scratch, dent, thread burr and half thread — plus OCR/OCV and absence/presence verification.

Can it check internal threads and pitch variation?

Yes — thread present, thread absent and pitch variation are checked; a dedicated taper camera position handles internal thread present or absent.

Does it inspect 360° surfaces?

Yes — dedicated positions for outer 360° and inner 360° surfaces, plus top and bottom surface defects.
